Gunter eyes strong finish

14 March 2014

Full back ahead of Derby

Chirs Gunter says that if the Royals can replicate their away form into Sky Bet Championship home fixtures, then Nigel Adkins' men will be a real force to contend with come May.

The full back believes Saturday's fixture against Derby County is a great opportunity to make a statement about our promotion intentions.

"Saturday is a really good chance for us against a team that are striving to do what we're trying to do. It's going to be a good game.

"Away from home we've been really good. Since the Watford game we've looked like we can score a lot of goals and we look a threat."

Reading have accumulated some excellent results on their travels, especially since the turn of the year, and Chris believes a strong spell of form home and away will be key for final furlong.

"We felt that for a large part of the season we were doing well but we didn't carry that momentum on," he admitted.

"We had a poor spell over Christmas and we were disappointed with our performance at Brighton in the Cup, but on the whole since then we've been brilliant.

"We've picked up some massive away wins so if we can transmit that into our home form, then we're looking really good for the run-in."
