Guthrie faces two-match ban

Danny to sit out home games

Midfield man Danny Guthrie will serve a two-match suspension after picking up his tenth booking of the season in Saturday's 2-1 win over Birmingham.

The 26-year-old misses our two home games this week against Barnsley and Huddersfield.

Manager Nigel Adkins will therefore have to tinker with his starting XI. Danny Williams has been sidelined in recent weeks with a knee injury, while Jem Karacan is of course injured as well, and so too Mikele Leigertwood.

Jobi McAnuff, Jake Taylor and Aaron Tshibola are among the options available to the boss for the centre of the park. In addition young forward Craig Tanner travelled with the team to Birmingham on Saturday. Chris Baird had been training with the club since January on a non-contract basis but has now signed for Burnley.

Adkins is confident in his squad's ability to step up to the plate in Danny's absence, saying, "Everybody has a role to play.

"It's a shame we lose Danny for two games, but it gives an opportunity for somebody to go and play.

"It's not just about eleven players, it's about the whole group, and I thought we demonstrated that at Saturday with the win at Birmingham."

Meanwhile, Sean Morrison plays for our under 21s away to Leicester on Monday night, and Wayne Bridge is continuing to work his way back from injury.

Tuesday night's opponents Barnsley have Jim O'Brien and Martin Cranie in the treatment room, while former Royal Tomasz Cywka will be hoping for a start at Madejski Stadium.
