Michael on under-21s victoryRoyals centre back Michael Hector spoke of his joy after scoring at Anfield, and felt that our under-21s impressive 2-1 victory against Liverpool was a great game to watch.
The 21-year-old notched the opening goal of the night at the Kop End, though fellow defender Niall Keown also tried to claim it as both wheeled away in celebration.
"It was great to play at Anfield - it's a great, historic stadium," he told readingfc.co.uk. "It was good to get the win, both goals were good and Harry (Cardwell) came on and did really well.
"It's definitely my goal - even though Niall's claiming it because he doesn't get many! He's kicked my foot, and I've kicked the ball in. Every footballer wants to score at the Kop End, but to be honest it was just good to score for my team.
"The players work hard every day. Everyone is on their toes, we dig in and work hard for each other. If you keep your feet on the ground you can go really far.
"I think it was a great game to watch. Liverpool had a lot of possession but we pressed them well and played some good football."
As well as helping the under-21s to a couple of excellent wins, Michael says it's great to be on the cusp of the first team starting XI for the first time since he joined the club in 2010.
"It was good to get some minutes under my belt as I've not been playing recently," he added.
"But it's great to be on the bench for the first team too - it's a positive step and that's all I can do, take it step by step. Hopefully soon I'll get a chance but if not I'm just happy to be a part of it - I love the club."
Highlights of the Liverpool win will be on Reading FC Player on Wednesday - in the meantime you can view an image gallery from the game here.
