Striker on excellent youth form
Young Royals star Craig Tanner says the reason our youth teams are thriving this season is down to the togetherness and bonds created in training.
Speaking after Monday night's excellent 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield, Craig hailed the entire Academy and under-21s group.
"We've just got a really good group of players, we're always training with each other so the Academy players are comfortable with the group," he told readingfc.co.uk.
"Being in and around each other and building bonds this year has really been shown on the pitch."
Tanner set up both goals against the Reds, the second of which was a superb finish by 17-year-old substitute Harry Cardwell.
"A first year scholar coming off the bench to score the winner at Anfield - you couldn't make it up!" he said.
"Harry's made a great run off the shoulder and I've worked with him in training on his movement to try and help him out - and he's made a great run for the goal.
"We always say, the off-the-ball run makes the pass - the pass was the easy bit so I put it all down to Harry.
"We dug in deep throughout the whole game and it paid dividends in the end. We got a lot of joy down the right early on - at half time we said we should keep exploiting that and thankfully we did."
