"We need to be strong"

Pearce and Obita on Leeds trip

Alex Pearce says the Royals must be strong this evening, as Nigel Adkins men play their second away game in the space of four days.

The defender drew positives from Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brighton, ahead of this evening's fixture at former Royals boss Brian McDermott's Leeds United.

"It's a tough week for us and it's physically demanding, but the boys are in good shape after the game on Saturday," he told readingfc.co.uk.

"I thought there were a lot of good things to come out of the game on Saturday - how we dominated the game, especially when they went down to ten men.

"It's always extra special when you play against a former manager, it will be good to see him again.

"There will be a lot more riding on the game - Leeds are fighting for their lives. It should be a good game and a good atmosphere. We need to be strong and hopefully we can make it a good week."

Fellow Academy graduate Jordan Obita added that a good result would set the Royals up nicely for this Saturday's home game with Derby County, and is relishing a potential battle with former Reading winger Jimmy Kebe tonight.

"Another away game, we want to get something from it and then we've got a home game to look forward to."

"Having watching Jimmy over the years here, I know how he plays. Obviously he’s a great player - but I'm confident playing against him and players of his standard."
