Well done to runners!

3 March 2014

Funds raised for Caring for Kenya

Congratulations to all participants who took part inthe Reading Half Marathon and Green Park Challenge on Sunday 2nd March 2014.

A special mention goes to all 19 runners (including Kingsley!) who completed the 13.1 mile run and the six children who got over the line in the Green Park Challenge - all in aid of Caring for Kenya. A group of 23 people representing the Royals in the Reading Half are set to travel to Kenya next year, to work on a fantastic community project in south-east Africa.

Our young Royals who took part in the two mile run in the morning were Ethan Sharpe, Jake Barclay, Bethany Reilly, Travis Absolom, Ryan Annets and Ben Hughes. The children will be invited to our home game with Derby County on Saturday 15th March, where they will be showcased at half time.

A lovely message was sent in from Jake Barclay’s family: "Well done to you all! What a fab day. You all did great and are an inspiration to the youngsters! Jake has loved his experience. Thanks so much for everything. Looking forward to see you at the Derby fixture."

This is just one of the fundraising events the club has been involved with, in order to raise funds.

Richard Witt, Social Inclusion Manager of the RFC Community Trust, for example is racking up over 128 miles up until September to raise funds, taking part in the following:
-  Green Park Challenge (2m) – 2nd March
