Reading became the inaugural winners of the U21 Premier League Cup by beating Manchester City at Madejski Stadium in April 2014.

Two second half goals, from Tariqe Fosu and Jack Stacey sealed a 2-0 victory on the day, and a 4-3 win on aggregate.

A stage was erected and the medals and trophy were presented, injured skipper Aaron Kuhl joining this afternoon's captain Pierce Sweeney to lift the
silverware in front of more than 3,000 vocal Royals fans.

The 2-0 win on the day was the culmination of a wonderful season of cup football for our Academy lads, fully deserved after an historic FA Youth Cup run for our under-18s and this, some silverware for our trophy cabinet. Rightfully coming in at number three of our ten moments from 2013/14.

Reading reached the FA Youth Cup semi finals for the first time in our history after an absolutely incredible game against Liverpool.

We won 5-4 on spot kicks, but that doesn't tell anything like the full story of an amazing match.

Reading led 2-0 but were pegged back on 88 minutes, and then trailed 4-2 only to score twice in the final three minutes of extra time.

We then scored all five of our penalties, with De'Jaune Taylor-Crossdale stroking home the decisive spot kick to send our players, staff and supporters wild on a great evening.

It really was an incredible night, with drama, quality, sheers guts and determination, and first and foremost our youngsters are through to the last four for the first time ever - a quite remarkable achievement. more at
