Adkins aims for cracking final day

2 May 2014

"We've got to go and win it"

Nigel Adkins believes that momentum gained from winning back-to-back fixtures will be significant, as the Royals aim to win their third on the bounce in Saturday's Madejski Stadium showdown with Burnley.

The boss had praise for in-form strikers Pavel Pogrebnyak and Adam Le Fondre and the rest of the group, who Adkins says will be giving everything they've got to ensure that everyone connected with Reading can look forward to a Play-Off adventure come 2.15pm on Saturday.

"The lads who are going to cross that white line are going to give it everything they've got for the cause," the manager told Reading FC Player.

"It's the 46th game of the league campaign, and we've got to go and win it. We want a full house at Madejski Stadium, full of positive energy off the field getting generated on to the pitch.

"We need everybody in it together, and all being well we can look forward to the Play-Offs. We've got two strikers scoring goals in this moment of time and we've got to keep our momentum going.

Of course, promoted Burnley will provide a very tough test for Adkins' men and the manager is expecting a great spectacle at Madejski Stadium.

"Burnley have rightly got themselves promoted to the Premier League. They've done a great job and we know they're a good side, which we found to our cost when we played them at Turf Moor.

"They'll want to finish off the season on a high, they'll want to win the game. But we want to win the game, so it should be a cracker."
