Fans raise over £2,000

7 May 2014

Supporters donate generously

Reading and Burnley fans have been thanked for their generous support, after a fantastic contribution towards ABF - The Soldiers' Charity this past weekend.

Bucket collections prior to our game with the Clarets raised £2,062 - a figure the charity have described as "our best result for some years."

The Soldiers' Charity (formerly the Army Benevolent Fund) give lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. They provide financial assistance, even after a soldier leaves the Army, with half of their money given directly to individuals to help in areas such as debt relief, mobility assistance, education bursaries, care home fees and respite breaks. The other half is given as grants to other charities.

Reading FC were contacted personally by Brian Tearle from the Berkshire Committee of the charity - who passed on his thanks to supporters for their superb donations.
