Fran Kirby scored a hat-trick as Reading FC Women comfortably beat Durham 4-0 at Farnborough on Sunday night to complete a memorable week.
After sealing a fantastic 2-0 win over giants Arsenal Ladies in the Continental Cup on Thursday night, Jane Ludlow's did not let go of that winning feeling as they aim to gather momentum in the Womens Super League 2.
Reading started brightly on a warm afternoon and Kirby found herself behind the Durham defence after two minutes but dragged her shot wide.
Kirby saw two more efforts fly over the bar, before Lois Roche broke the deadlock on 27 minutes with an impressive strike after Durham failed to clear their box.
The lead was then doubled just two minutes before half time, with Kirby scoring with a well taken finish.
Ten minutes after the restart, Kirby bagged her second after she broke away from the Durham defence with pace and slotted home.
Durham thought they had pulled one back after 74 minutes when Stacey Crooks had the ball in the back of the net only to be flagged offside.
Crooks beat the offside trap moments later but Royals goalkeeper Nicola Davies denied her, and five minutes later, Kirby put the game to bed as she wrapped up her hat-trick.
Reading had the chance to make it five in the dying moments of the match after they were awarded a penalty but Lauren Bruton saw her effort saved by Katie Luther.
