Jordan Obita with England U21s in Toulon

20 May 2014

Three Lions in France for tournament

Royals left back Jordan Obita has travelled with England's under-21s for the Toulon Tournament that takes place from the 20th of May to the 2nd of June.

The Academy graduate was an unused substitute for Garath Southgate's Young Lions on Monday night, as they sealed 3-1 win Euro qualifying win over Wales at the Liberty Stadium.

But the youngster's chances of featuring in this competition are boosted as the majority of the squad are expected to be involved at some point, while U21s regulars Tom Ince, Jesse Lingard, and Danny Ings are all too old for the U20s tournament in France.

The 20-year-old, who was named as Reading's Player of the Season, is with the squad for the Toulon Tournament in southern France, where England will face Brazil, Colombia, Qatar and South Korea in their four group games.

"The Toulon Tournament is a chance to take the bulk of our group and maybe some players that we haven’t seen," said Southgate. "We’re very much viewing it as part of the preparation for what will hopefully be a Euro play-off in October and the Under-21 finals next summer."
