Leigertwood, McAnuff & Gorkss reflect on departure

Trio on time at Reading

Mikele Leigertwood, Jobi McAnuff and Kaspars Gorkss have reflected fondly on their time with the Royals as their contracts came to a conclusion.

The promotion-winning trio leave Madejski Stadium with the very best wishes and utmost respect of everyone at the Club.

Speaking to, former Sheffield United man Leigertwood said, "I'm going to miss a lot of people here, but my time at Reading has been great. I can look back on it with great pride and happiness.

"It's been a good three years, we got to the Play-Offs and the following year we got promoted and I've played in the Premier League which every player wants to do.

"That moment against Nottingham Forest will live with me for the rest of my life. It was a great night and I can't believe it's been two years already!"

McAnuff became only the second captain in Reading history to gain promotion to the top flight and says he will never forget his five years in Berkshire.

"My time at Reading has been fantastic. It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable chapter of my life, a stable one as well," he told

"I have a lot of respect for the fans, who have been great to me, and I have so many friends who are still here.

"Five seasons is a large chunk of my career. I’ve captained the club with massive amounts of pride and enjoyment. It’s been a fantastic experience. It's a time of my career I’ll never forget."

Defender Gorkss also wanted to place his thanks on record to everyone connected to Reading FC, and says will also take some good memories from his time with the Royals.

"I want to say a big thank you to everyone at the Club - from the kitchen staff to the players and of course the fans.

"I will look back fondly on the three seasons I've had at Reading."
