U14s at Wembley this week

25 May 2014

Great honour for youngsters

The Royals Academy head to Wembley Stadium this Tuesday for the final of the Nike Trophy!

In a campaign which has seen the U18s progress to the FA Youth Cup semi-final for the first time in the club's history, the U14s beat Mancheter United (2-1), Arsenal (2-0) and West Brom (1-0), before defeating Fulham 2-1 in the semi-final - earning their place in the final at the home of English football.

Speaking last month, Assistant Academy Manager Lee Herron said: “It’s every player's dream to play Wembley, the young boys acquitted themselves magnificently well, projecting a great image on and off the pitch. Their rewards are the opportunity to play at Wembley,we’re delighted for them as a staff. It’s been a fantastic couple of days, a great learning tool, a really great achievement. Not every player gets chance to play at Wembley, we have this opportunity and it’s fantastic for Reading Football Club.”
