Jules, Sheppard, Long and Kelly in actionFour Reading youngsters were in action for their respective nations on Thursday afternoon.
Jake Sheppard and Zak Jules started for Scotland U17s, in their huge fixture against Switzerland.
The Academy pair played 90 minutes on Tuesday night as they helped the Scots to a fantastic win 1-0 over Germany in the UEFA Under-17 Championship Group Stage.
Central defender Jules certainly did not look out of place on his international debut, and almost scored during the second half in the aftermath of a corner as he headed just wide - though it looked like the Reading man was impeded by his marker behind.
16-year-old Sheppard made seven appearances for our under-18s at right back this season, and looked a threat in a more advanced right wing position; delivering a inch-perfect first half cross to eventual goalscorer Scott Wright - who could only head wide.
Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland U19s duo Liam Kelly and Sean Long again tasted defeat against a strong Mexico U20 side.
Both featured against the Mexicans on Tuesday night in a 3-0 defeat. Long took the captain's armband and almost scored early on, while our young playmaker Kelly came off the bench for a 22-minute spell.
Fellow Emerald Isle team mates at Reading, Pierce Sweeney and Shane Griffin, have also received call ups to Ireland's U21s squad to face Qatar next week.
