1 November 2014

Reading U18s 2-1 Chelsea U18s

A second half free-kick from Sam Smith gave Reading's U18s an impressive win over Chelsea at Hogwood Park on Saturday morning.

The visitors took the lead as Tammy Abraham scored his 15th goal of the season for the men from Stamford Bridge, only for the Royals' Scottish U19 international Harry Cardwell to level - showing good awareness to turn home a rebound from 18 yards.

Smith's excellent left footed strike in the 55th minute proved enough to grab all three points - with goalkeeper Lewis Ward saving impressively from Swiss youth international Miro Muheim to ensure the victory.

Reading: Ward, Watson, Sheppard, Bennett, Osho, Ethelston, Smith, Husin, Cardwell, Novakovich, Davis

Chelsea: Thompson; Wakefield, Tomori (Ali Suljic h/t), Clarke-Salter, Chalobah (George Brady); Ali, Christie-Davies, Scott; Muheim (Faiq Bolkiah), Abraham, Ugbo
