Duo help to lift spiritsAcademy graduates Aaron Kuhl and Jake Cooper took time to make a surprise visit to Emmbrook U11s’ weekly training session last Tuesday.
Emmbrook have had a tough time of late, with a number of their players suffering injuries and the appearance of the Reading duo certainly lifted spirits.
Lifelong Reading supporter Emma Brown, whose son Aaron (pictured above with coach Keddy Loyal) plays for the team, wrote to the club to request a player visit and Kuhl and Cooper were more than happy to step in.
They posed for photos with the youngsters and signed copies of this season’s first-team team photo, as well as answering questions in a special Q&A session.
The pair also shared their own experiences of youth football and spoke about their own journeys from Reading’s academy to the first team.
Emmbrook have been forced to withdraw from a number of fixtures this season, due to injury levels, and Ms Brown was hugely grateful to Kuhl and Cooper for their time.
She said: “A massive thank you to Jake and Aaron. It was lovely to see our boys’ faces; a real treat for them. It was an excellent night and Aaron and Jake were so natural and encouraging - they're real football heroes.
“I really hope they know how much their visit meant to our team. Thank you all for giving up your time and cheering on the boys and making some noise. We all really appreciate it we were all overwhelmed by the visit.”
