McCleary in squad for Friday

19 November 2014

Winger returns for Wales trip

Nigel Adkins has confirmed that Garath McCleary will be back in the squad for Friday night's game at Cardiff.

The winger has not played for the first team since the final day of last season with a back problem, but after playing in two friendly matches he will travel to South Wales for this Sky Bet Championship fixture.

The boss said the Jamaica international is not yet in a position to play 90 minutes, but he will be among the players available to him as we take on the Bluebirds.

Defender Shaun Cummings could also feature, having been out since August with a knee injury caused by a bad tackle in our cup game at Scunthorpe.

Anton Ferdinand is not yet ready to return, but will be closer when we play Norwich next weekend. Danny Guthrie and Jem Karacan are also sidelined, while Aaron Kuhl is back running after an injury in a recent under 21 game.

It has today been confirmed that Hope Akpan will be out for three months with a shoulder injury, potentially missing the African Cup of Nations.

The game is not on TV, and tickets are on sale now, more details here. If you're not going, you can listen live on Reading FC Player.
