Manager speaks on Royal supportManager Nigel Adkins said he and the players were very grateful for the fans' support on Saturday.
After a run of seven games without a win, the fans stayed patient during a tricky fixture against Blackpool, backing the players and indeed the manager as well.
Adkins stated that the fans' backing helped the players to pick up a win, commenting, "I must thank the supporters, on behalf of the players, because the environment they were able to perform in was calming and very supportive.
"Thank you for that, because it does make a difference.
"You can see it was probably an edgy period to start with, and after we scored, because of the results we've had of late.
"So thank you for the way the players were backed, we've kept a good clean sheet, scored three goals, won at home and we want to build on it."
After a tricky run of results, the boss was pleased to get back to winning ways. "It was an important game to win, we did our job which was important.
"The young players have gained valuable experience, they've been in a situation where they've got to survive.
"They've made mistakes and they've been punished for that. The only way to gain experience and flourish is to go through a negative experience - but you can't keep making the same mistakes.
"They've had to show grit, determination, and they got their rewards with a clean sheet."
Asked if he had felt the supposed pressure of recent results, he stated, "No, not at all. From my point of view, I want to be in the Premier League with Reading, so that comes from me.
"You can't control everything that goes on, you just work hard. We've got hard-working players and staff.
"We all want the same thing, players, staff and fans - to see Reading Football Club do well."
