Federici back in Australia fold

15 October 2014

Keeper's 18-month Australia pause

Keeper Adam Federici is back in the Australia team for the first time in 18 months.

Feds played the second half of a 1-0 defeat for his country in Qatar, marking his first appearance since February 2013.

Adam has been in excellent form so far this season, making himself number one choice for Nigel Adkins' men.

Australia's next game is away to Japan in November, and they are leading up to the Asian Cup next year.

After a couple of below-par results, manager Ange Postecoglou said, "In my mind we're still making progress. We're still giving some really good experience to some of the players who haven't had that sort of top-level intensity before."

Meanwhile, Oliver Norwood had an assist in a 2-0 win for N Ireland, while Alex Pearce was on the bench for Ireland in a 1-1 draw with World Champions Germany.
