Ferdinand & Williams return in 21s win

27 October 2014

Brighton U21s 0-2 Reading U21s (Cardwell 85, Fosu 90)

Royals U21s picked up an impressive 2-0 victory away to Brighton on Monday night, as Anton Ferdinand and Danny Williams returned from injury.

Williams played 45 minutes whilst Anton Ferdinand got an hour under his belt in a night full of positives for the watching Nigel Adkins - with the game won in an eventful last five minutes.

After an even contest Reading turned the screw in the dying stages, with substitute striker Harry Cardwell getting a touch to Jake Cooper's header after skipper Aaron Kuhl had whipped in a corner kick.

There was more drama to follow. In stoppage time Seagulls 'keeper Joshua Smith saw red for a challenge on Royals sub Tariqe Fosu - with Rob Hunt also dismissed in the aftermarth for dissent.

Fosu dusted himself off to dispatch the spot kick - and seal three points for Martin Kuhl's men in the Barclays U21 Premier League.

Reading: Andersen, Long, Griffin, Cooper, Ferdinand (Sweeney 60), Kuhl (C), Williams (Fosu HT), Tshibola, Edwards, Stacey, Samuel (Cardwell 79)
