Debut for young midfielderHope Akpan capped off a great few days for Royals players on international duty by winning his first Nigeria cap in a 3-1 win over Sudan on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old midfielder was drafted into the Super Eagles starting line up for the crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier and impressed local journalists as second-half strikes from Ahmed Musa and Aaron Samuel improved Nigeria's chances of defending their Afcon crown in 2015.
Hope tweeted his delight following the match - posting a photo alongside Chelsea star and fellow countryman John Obi Mikel.
"I have realised a small dream today making my international debut for @NGSuperEagles." tweeted the former Everton man. "This guy (Mikel) made it easy for me. Learnt a lot in a short space of time. True professional. Delighted is an understatement."
