Derby boss on win at MadejskiDerby boss Steve McClaren was understandably happy with his team's result at the weekend - but admitted it was not a comfortable victory for his side.
He said, "3-0 possibly flattered us but we were very happy with the win. In terms of our performances we can do better.
“It was far from comfortable, the first 20 minutes was like the Alamo, there was so many long balls and crosses and we had a lot of defending to do.
“We had to get through that and survive that and we did. We knew that, on the break, we would have chances, we didn’t pass it very well in the beginning, but once we did, we created the chances and we got the two goals.
“The first goal is important and that settled us a lot. Once we got the second, we knew they would take risks. The third was important."
He continued, “Jordon [Ibe] showed what he is capable of doing. He’s one of them that, at times, can be unplayable.
“He’s only 18, imagine what he will be like when he grows and matures, and he is doing his work defensively. He showed great attitude.
“Chris [Martin] will be the first to say about the amount of chances created for him by the team.
“He should have scored more, he should have been walking away with the ball. It’s a good team, it creates chances and he is very good in front of goal. It’s a very good combination.”
