Murray on debut delight

Glenn goalscoring debut

Glenn Murray hailed his striking partnership with Simon Cox after scoring twice on his Reading debut as Fulham were beaten 3-0 at Madejski Stadium.

The forward, on loan from Crystal Palace, enjoyed the joint-fourth best debut in Reading history in terms of goals scored thanks to headers in each half.

"I was really happy," Murray told Reading FC Player. "I would have been nice to get three – but never mind!

"Obviously Fulham are going through bad times right now but it was important for us to get our win and move up the table a little bit.

"It went well – obviously it’s the first time we (Murray and Cox) have played together up front. I was very pleased with how we linked up, and hopefully it will continue like that."

The former Brighton man hopes to add more goals to his name, but won't celebrate his excellent debut too much with another home game on the horizon - against Millwall on Tuesday night.

Asked if he'll be savouring his Man of the Match champagne, he said: “Doubtful - with another game on Tuesday! But scoring goals is what I enjoy doing, and long may it continue."
