Pearce: "We'll have to be on our toes"

Alex previews trip to Sheff Wed

Defender Alex Pearce says the Royals must be at full strength on Saturday as the Royals travel to Sheffield Wednesday.

It's 6th verses 8th this weekend as the Owls have also made a promising start to the campaign. But Pearce is buoyed by Reading's excellent form and also picked out stand-in captain Chris Gunter for his performances this season.

"The training ground and the stadium is a good place to be around right now," he told Reading FC Player. "There's a real feel-good factor around the place.

"We've shown different ways to win games. Before Tuesday night's game we were keeping lots of clean sheets, but I think the other night showed a different way to win the game - we kept going right to the end which is fantastic.

"He (Gunter) been brilliant, he's got the captain's armband on and he's been a massive part of the clean sheets that we have kept so far this season."

Pearce is wary of the attacking prowess of Sheffield Wednesday but is confident ahead of the trip to Hillsborough.

"We've got four wins on the bounce now and we'll be looking to take that form and confidence into Saturday's game away at Sheffield Wednesday.

"They've started the season really well. They've got a good team, good attacking threats and we'll have to be on our toes and at full strength going into the game."
