Superb week for the Women

8 September 2014

Royals win 3-0 at Durham

Reading FC Women capped off a brilliant week in the WSL2 by extending their unbeaten run to 12 games with a 3-0 win away at Durham Ladies on Sunday afternoon.

Second-placed Doncaster Rovers Belles were beaten 4-0 by Jane Ludlow's side at the end of the month, days before a 3-2 victory away at Yeovil Town - who sit a place below the Royals in fourth.

And a sixth win in seven was secured this past weekend in the North East, with the sensational Fran Kirby scoring her 22nd and 23rd goals of the season.

After a tight first half, Reading took total control and Cheryl Williams broke the deadlock on the hour mark with her fourth goal of the season.

The Royals continued to dominate and substitute Leigh Nicol set Fran Kirby who calmly finished to make it 2-0 with just eight minutes remaining.

Kirby then made sure of the three points when she rounded the Durham goalkeeper to place the ball into the net for three.

Up next for our Women is another away game, as they travel to Aston Villa Ladies on Sunday 21st September.

Royals: Maloney, Jane, Cox, Bartrip, McGee, Horwood, Walkley (Roche 55), Bragg (Nicol 45), Scott (Williams 45), Bruton, Kirby.
