Cox calls for fans to back 'touching occasion'

Striker on #RyansRoyals

Simon Cox is calling for Reading fans to get involved in an emotional afternoon on Saturday, as the club’s #RyansRoyals project reaches its climax.

Steve Clarke’s men will stride out for the game wearing a one off kit designed by 14-year-old Ryan Duval, and after visiting the youngster a number of times the striker cannot wait to pull on the strip.

“It’s brilliant to see something like this come to fruition,” said Cox.

“It’s something I’ve never seen before, one of those things you are just proud to be a part of. It speaks volumes for the way the football club is run and the type of club that we are. To meet Ryan, to go and visit the school, to see where it all began and meet the others along the way has been really nice. Saturday will be touching occasion.”

To mark the day tickets have been reduced to just £10 for adults and £5 for concessions for the visit of Blackburn – whilst over 400 members of Ryan’s Avenue School are attending as guests of the club. Ryan himself, of course, will be mascot for the day

Supporters with access to Twitter are encouraged to tweet using #RyansRoyals at exactly 7pm on Thursday evening, in an effort to raise awareness of the project.

“The lads have been trying to do their little bits, retweeting and throwing things out there! If we can get as many people as possible doing that at 7pm tonight it’ll be wicked, we’ll try and get it going.

“Then on Saturday people can come out and show their support, not just to the club and the players,  but also to this fantastic cause, to Ryan and to the school. It’ll make it a momentous occasion for him and the school.”
