Midfielder's loan deal comes to an end

Nathan Ake will return to parent club Chelsea after his one-month loan with with the Royals came to an end this evening.

After arriving at Madejski Stadium on March 25, the Dutchman made five appearances for Steve Clarke's men, making his debut in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff City.

He made further starts against Blackpool, Blackburn, Bournemouth and tonight's opponents Birmingham, and watched Saturday's FA Cup Semi-Final from the Wembley stands.

Reading manager Steve Clarke said: "Chelsea have asked for Nathan back so he goes back to Chelsea. We thank them for allowing Nathan to come and I think everyone has seen in the five games that he has played that he's a top player, and that he's got a very bright future ahead of him."
