Community Trust given PFA Best Practice award

17 August 2015

Recognition given to commitment to equality and inclusion

We’re delighted to announce that Reading FC Community Trust has been nominated by the Professional Footballers’ Association as one of just seven clubs professional clubs that have demonstrated ‘Best Practice’ in their approach to equality and diversity.  The seven clubs were nominated from the 92 sides in the Premier and Football Leagues.

The Professional Football Association (PFA) recently undertook an extensive exercise to capture data from Professional clubs around the Equality and Inclusion agenda.

As part of this process, the Trust has been invited to help formulate a Best Practice Strategy document in which the PFA will share with the game.

“From the information we have received we then identified seven clubs who had shown a genuine commitment to equality though the makeup of their workforce and the diversity of activities,” read a statement from the PFA.  “Interviews were arranged with these clubs to evaluate their approach to equality and diversity and inclusion in general to help create a good practice document outlining the benefit of a diverse working environment.”

Dave Evans, Head of Community at Reading FC, said: “It is very pleasing that we have been recognised by the PFA for our commitment to equality and inclusion and it is a credit to everyone involved in our Community Trust.  We approach these issues with the utmost seriousness and we aspire to aim for the highest standards in everything that we do.  I hope that the groundwork which we have done will set a good example for others to follow, and we will continue to set our sights high.”
