Eamonn here to witness united Madejski Stadium backingThank you to the fans of both Reading and Leeds United who this afternoon came together in a united show of support for our Academy Manager Eamonn Dolan.
In the 21st minute of today's goalless draw with Uwe Rosler's side, 21,581 supporters collectively stood and applauded in support of Dolan who is beginning a course of chemotherapy, following the removal of a tumour from his bladder.
The hashtag #21forDolan took root very quickly on social media last week and fans themselves decided to use the 21st minute of this afternoon's fixture to show their appreciation and respect for Eamonn. 21 was a reference to the tremendous work that Eamonn has done with the young players at our football club, culminating in the victory in the final of the inaugural Under-21 Premier League Cup in 2014, as well as promotion to the Barclays Under-21 Premier League Division 1 this summer.
Eamonn was at Madejski Stadium to hear the ovation himself and see the unequivocal backing he has from the world of football, which ever since the news broke last week, has come together to get behind his fight against the illness.
Once again, thank you for your support.
