Defender to make temporary switch to Whaddon Road

Young Reading centre-half Rob Dickie has today joined Cheltenham Town on a one-month youth loan.

The 19-year-old defender has been with the Royals since the age of eight, and will join Gary Johnson’s side in a temporary switch as they continue their National League campaign.

Royals Academy graduate Dickie is a regular in the Reading Under-21 side, and scored in our Under-21 Premier League win over Sunderland at Hogwood on Monday.

Last season Dickie went out on loan to National League South side Basingstoke Town, where he made 24 appearances and helped them to a third-place league finish and reached the play-offs in the process.

Rob’s first fixture in a Robins shirt could come this Saturday, when they host Barrow Town at Whaddon Road.
