Team update ahead of home openerDominic Samuel will definitely unavailable for the Sunday’s 3pm visit of Leeds United, after the forward had to be withdrawn with injury against in the Capital One Cup tie at Colchester in midweek.
“He’s had a scan and we’re still waiting on the specialist’s reports,” said manager Steve Clarke on Friday. “It’s disappointing for the boy that he has picked up an injury – it’s not going to be a short-term injury, but hopefully not too long.”
Peruvian international Paolo Hurtado will not yet be available while the usual formalities are finalised on his working visa. As last week at Birmingham, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Garath McCleary and Tariqe Fosu are also set to remain sidelined as they continue their returns from their respective injuries.
There are no other fresh injury concerns for the Royals – Ali Al-Habsi and Andrew Taylor both made their maiden Reading appearances at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Tuesday and are available for selection by Steve Clarke.
Leeds, meanwhile, will not be able to call upon the services of Lewis Cook after the midfielder was sent off against Doncaster Rovers in Thursday’s cup tie. Whites boss Uwe Rösler may look to make changes, with many players having to play 120 minutes before the spot-kicks and playing a man light for over an hour.
