Squad numbers announced for 2015-16

6 August 2015

New numerals confirmed ahead of the new campaign

Reading’s squad numbers for the new season were submitted yesterday to the Football League ahead of the 2015-16 season, which kicks off this weekend.

Our new additions will don their new digits for the first time on Saturday away at Birmingham, and a few of the existing squad members have also taken on a different number than they did in the last campaign.

Michael Hector will wear the number 8 shirt in the new season, and Anton Ferdinand has chosen to move into the number 15 slot which he previously occupied at West Ham United.

Young goalkeeper Jonathan Bond takes the number 1 jersey after his summer arrival, while fellow shot-stopper Ali Al-Habsi – who also arrived this summer – takes shirt number 26, as he did at Bolton and Wigan previously.  This season Simon Cox has also opted for a number which he wore at previous clubs Swindon and West Brom – 31 – while striker Orlando Sa will sport the number 10 for the new campaign after his arrival from Legia Warsaw, and will wear the full name ‘Orlando Sa’ on the reverse of his shirt.

Midfielder Stephen Quinn takes the number 21 after joining in the summer from Hull City, and Paul McShane will be the Royals’ new number 5.  In keeping with previous years, Jake Taylor’s shirt will read ‘J.Taylor’.  Andrew Taylor, who joined on a season-long loan from Wigan Athletic yesterday, is expected to take number 3.

You can get the players’ names and numbers printed on the back of your brand new 2015-16 home shirt!  Head to www.readingfcdirect.co.uk to order yours – and our brand new away shirt will also be on sale to supporters soon too.
