Royals defender meets participants to hand out awardsRoyals defender Michael Hector met a group of young people participating in a Prince’s Trust 12-week programme, to watch their presentations and hand out their completion certificates.
The Reading centre-back then chatted to the group, posed for photos with the youngsters and signed autographs!
The youngsters took part in a 12-week personal development programme hosted by the Reading FC Community Trust, which was run in partnership with the Prince’s Trust.
The participants, aged between 16 and 25, gained an NVQ qualification whilst taking part in community based projects.
During the presentations, Hec heard from the participants as they spoke about their experiences during the past three months where they explained how the course them to improve a range of skills, including leadership, working as part of a team, and enhancing their self-confidence.
During the programme they also took part in a number of projects, including working at Beale Park where they cleared an area of overhanging vegetation to encourage wildlife back to the riverside.
They have also been supporting a soup kitchen on the Oxford Road in Reading by donating food and their time by cooking and serving at the kitchen.
