RFC Women to play WSL 1 fixtures at Adams Park

10 December 2015

Wycombe to host Women’s matches for 2016 season

We are delighted to confirm that Reading FC Women have agreed a two-year deal to play their fixtures at Adams Park, home of Wycombe Wanderers, following promotion to the FA WSL 1 division last season.

The agreement will see all home matches in the Women’s Super League, the FA Women’s Cup and the Continental Tyres Cup played at the venue from the start of the 2016 season until the close of the 2017 campaign.

The Royals were promoted as champions of WSL 2 on a dramatic final day in which a 3-2 victory away at Aston Villa secured top-spot at the expense of fellow-promoted side Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The Women leave their former home at the Rushmoor Community Stadium, home to Farnborough FC, after two fabulous seasons which saw the club work closely with staff and supporters of Farnborough FC to develop facilities and the pitch to meet the demands of the FA WSL License.

Reading FC Women would like to put on record our thanks to the staff and supporters of Farnborough FC for their help in establishing Reading in the FA WSL and making the team feel so welcome, as well as wishing Farnborough FC all the best in the future.

Adams Park will now play host to some of the premier women’s teams in the country when the new 2016 campaign kicks off in March, including Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.  The standard kick-off time will be at 2pm on Sundays.

The stadium has hosted the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup final and also the FA Women’s Cup semi-final in recent years, making it an ideal fit for the Reading FC Women to call it their new home.

Adams Park currently also hosts a number of our Under-21 fixtures – our U21 side faced Everton there on Wednesday, and will host Manchester United and Tottenham in the New Year.

Reading FC Women General Manager Jon Horton said: “We are absolutely delighted to finalise the agreement with Wycombe Wanderers – Adams Park is a superb facility with a fantastic pitch and a great place for Reading Women FC to establish themselves, and build a fan base to support our continued development within the Women’s game.

“The staff and management at Wycombe Wanderers are very supportive of the introduction of Women’s football and we are looking forward to working with the Club and their Trust to drive awareness and support for both clubs.”
