Ball team welcomed to Hogwood

26 February 2015

Youngsters meet the squad

Their work often goes unnoticed on a matchday, but the Reading FC Ball Team were recently rewarded for their efforts this season with a trip to Hogwood Park!

Youngsters were whisked up to the training ground to watch the Royals squad put through their paces, before meeting manager Steve Clarke and the players for autographs and photos.

Indeed there was a special chance to test out their own football skills as goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo challenged them to a penalty shoot out…

Goalkeepers Stuart Moore and Dan Lincoln stepped between the sticks as the Ball Team took their spot kicks, whilst Nick Blackman even donned the gloves as he tried out life as a shot stopper!

Academy Education Officer Becky Laffan said: "The training ground visit is an excellent reward for our hard working ball team. Their attitude on match days is first class and their role is excellent preparation for their future working lives. I am proud to work with young people who are so deeply passionate about the club.”
