Royals wait on McCleary

17 February 2015

Winger missed out with knee injury

The Royals are waiting on the availability of winger Garath McCleary.

The wideman missed Saturday's game at Derby, having picked up a knock against Leeds in our previous game.

Speaking after the win at the iPro Stadium, boss Steve Clarke told our local press, "Garath got injured midweek, I was hoping he would make it for the game.

"He got a kick, he had a bit of swelling, the medical staff told me not to risk it, so I didn't.

"We've got a good squad, Jamie Mackie came in and did well which shows the value of the squad.

"Will he be back for Tuesday? We'll have to wait and see."

Also out at the moment are Chris Gunter, Jem Karacan and Anton Ferdinand.

Danny Guthrie is back in training and has just missed out on our 18-man squad for the last couple of matches.

For Wigan, Harry Maguire and Jason Pearce could make their debuts, but Emyr Huws and Chris McCann are doubts. Liam Ridgewell has returned to the MLS.

Tonight's game kicks off at 8pm, and tickets are cheaper before 5pm - click here for details.
