U21s drawn at Blackburn in Premier League Cup semis

11 February 2015

Holders to head north again

Defending champions Reading have been drawn away at Blackburn Rovers in the semi-finals of the U21s Premier League Cup.

The Royals defeated Manchester City 4-3 on aggregate in last season's final, and have already beaten Queens Park Rangers, Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town in this year’s campaign.

Jack Stacey’s 119th minute winner saw the Royals negotiate a tricky quarter-final against the Terriers, and Martin Kuhl’s side have been rewarded with another tough test against northern opposition.

Derby County are also through to the last four and await the result of the postponed quarter-final between Southampton and Watford, which has been rescheduled for Thursday.

The Royals are in a rich vein of form, unbeaten in three and sit sixth in the U21s Division Two table, while Blackburn are currently 10th.

Dates for the semi-final fixtures will be announced in due course.
