Clarke: Millwall game crucial

Manager on trip to The Den

Manager Steve Clarke is taking tonight’s game at Millwall head on.

The Royals are seven points above the Lions in the SkyBet Championship, and a positive result would give us a far more comfortable cushion clear of the bottom three.

Clarke pulled no punches when asked about the significance of the game at the New Den, saying, “It's a crucial game for everyone at the club, you can't shy away from that, you must be honest.

“We have to take the momentum from Cardiff into that one. We had a little unbeaten run going into Fulham, we lost there but I asked the players to pick up again quickly, which they did.”

The Royals have lost one of the last six matches under Clarke, and but for late goals conceded at Brighton and Fulham, our points tally would be even more impressive.

Clarke said, “We want to build a winning mentality into the group - certainly a mentality whereby we're not going to roll over.

“Fulham was painful but it was good to bounce back in the next game. It’s a short turnaround for Millwall and straight away our preparation begun for that.”
