Samuel joins Coventry on loan

29 January 2015

Striker heads to Ricoh Arena

Striker Dominic Samuel has joined Coventry City on an emergency loan deal until 28th April.

The 20-year-old has put pen to paper at the Ricoh Arena today, and will look to go straight into Steven Pressley's squad this weekend.

The England youth international has been in sparkling form for our Under 21s this season, and is one of the top scorers in the Barclays Under 21 Premier League and Cup. He scored again on Saturday as we beat league leaders Newcastle, while he notched four in a friendly against Crawley last week.

Manager Steve Clarke said, "He's a young striker we think a lot about. He obviously came off the bench for us at Huddersfield, he’s very much in our thoughts, at this stage of the season it’s good for him to go out and get competitive action and improve as a player."

Samuel has made two substitute appearances for the Royals, the first in the Premier League away at Sunderland in 2012, the second earlier this month away to Huddersfield in the FA Cup.

He has also played for Colchester and Dagenham & Redbridge on loan, while registering two goals in three England U19 games. There is a recall in this loan deal after 28 days.
