Steve Clarke gives an injury updateSteve Clarke says he is encouraged with the numbers available to him within his Reading squad, though Garath McCleary remains an injury doubt for Saturday’s game with Middlesbrough.
The winger, who sustained a knock to his knee against Norwich, missed last weekend’s FA Cup win at Huddersfield Town, a game that saw Danny Guthrie start for the first time in four months.
The gaffer hopes to have McCleary available for training tomorrow and also revealed that Pavel Pogrebnyak is returning to full fitness.
“The squad looks good and even Garath looks good,” said Clarke. “I’ve got a slight doubt in my mind because he hasn’t trained much with us this week, though we hope to have him back with us tomorrow.
“I haven’t ruled Garath out for Saturday but, at the moment, he would be a doubt for the game. Everyone looks in good shape. Pavel is back on the grass, back in the group, looking good, working hard and hoping to make a contribution to the club like everybody else in the coming months.
“It’s always good when you start to get your senior players out of the treatment room, back onto the pitch and around the squad. These guys have been around for a long time and they know how to get results, which is important.”
