Tshibola makes instant impact at Hartlepool

7 January 2015

Youngster named in Team of the Week

An impressive Hartlepool debut from Aaron Tshibola saw the young midfielder named in the League Two's Team of the Week in many national newspapers.

The 20-year-old played the entire 90 minutes as Pools were beaten 1-0 by fourth-tier leaders Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, Tshibola revealed that he is determined to help Pools escape relegation into the conference.

He told the Hartlepool Mail: “I can gain a lot from my time here, it is all about being a man, showing some guts and going out there and giving 100 per cent every time you pull that shirt on.

“We are 10 points adrift but there are still a lot of games left. If we keep playing like we did against Wycombe then the chances will come and I am confident we will get a win sooner, rather than later.

“I am more than positive that we will grab a couple of goals and get that win. Wycombe themselves did it last season. Never say die. We are ready to do the great escape.”

Tshibola, who penned a one-month loan deal in the North East on Friday, will hope to feature again when Ronnie Moore’s side host Cheltenham on Saturday.

Young goalkeeper Johnathan Henly started for Welling United in their 4-1 defeat to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday. The Wings are next in action on January 17th when they welcome struggling Alfreton to Park View Road in the Conference Premier.

Stuart Moore and Rob Dickie both played the entire game as Basingstoke Town overcame Eastbourne Borough 1-0. The victory moved them up to third in the Conference South table – leaving them just two points behind second-placed Bromley.
