Leciester U18s 0-3 Reading U18sGoals from Andrija Novakovich, Noor Husin and Jake Sheppard ensured that Reading’s U18s continued their perfect start to 2015 with an impressive 3-0 victory at Leicester City on Saturday morning.
The victory made it back-to-back wins at the start of the year for the youngsters, with them having beaten Arsenal at Hogwood Park seven days earlier.
The Royals started brightly; looking threatening from wide areas and they took the lead on 22 minutes when Novakovich latched onto a through ball before calming dispatching beyond Leicester goalkeeper Max Smith-Varnham.
Gabriel Osho got in an important block to deny Danny Rowe just before the break and, shortly after the interval, the Royals’ rear-guard again had to put their bodies on the line to get in the way of a Cedric Kipre shot.
On 61 minutes, Conor Davis fed Husin and the midfielder doubled Reading’s advantage by firing into the top corner from outside of the box.
Luke Southwood made a comfortable save from Hamza Choudhury 10 minutes from time and he then held onto Josh Knight’s tame header.
The impressive Royals sealed the points through Sheppard, who collected possession from Husin and curled in at the far post, having cut in from the wing.
The U18s are next in action when they on Saturday when they welcome West Bromwich Albion to Hogwood Park.
