Williams impressed by new boss

Danny Williams believes that Steve Clarke has helped to restore confidence in the Royals squad as they head into 2015 off the back of a win over Norwich City.

The new manager picked up his first win in charge at Madejski Stadium with the 2-1 victory, giving his side plenty of momentum as they kick off the New Year with an FA Cup clash away to Huddersfield at the weekend.

“I have been very impressed with him,” said Williams. “You can see a lot of experience, but we have to just keep building on that win and aim to get on a little run. I’m positive for the next game. He makes us believe in ourselves again and let us know we have enough quality to keep up with those teams. We were lacking a bit of confidence after a bad run but in this division anything is possible.”

The American international, who made his 40th Championship appearance for the club last Sunday, is aiming to stick to a tried and tested formula for success in the country’s second tier.

“I think you can see we keep a good shape, we were hard to break down and have enough quality to score goals. We could have won our last two games, we were a bit unlucky against Watford and 2-0 up against Brighton.”
