25 players for Thailand trip

5 July 2015

Bond, Sa, McShane & Quinn on board

25 players boarded a Thai Airways flight to Bangkok on Sunday morning for our pre-season tour of Thailand.

New signings Jonathan Bond, Orlando Sa, Stephen Quinn and Paul McShane have all travelled, as has goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi, who is currently training with us.

Simon Cox, Jake Cooper & Jack Stacey have unfortunately missed out as they recover from injury, while Michael Hector & Garath McCleary are away with Jamaica.

Full squad:
Goalkeepers: Jonathan Bond, Ali Al-Habsi

Defenders: Anton Ferdinand, Shane Griffin, Chris Gunter, Sean Long, Niall Keown, Paul McShane, Jordan Obita, Nana Owusu

Midfielders: Hope Akpan, Liam Kelly, Aaron Kuhl, Oliver Norwood, Stephen Quinn, Jake Taylor, Aaron Tshibola, Danny Williams

Forwards: Nick Blackman, Tariqe Fosu, Andrija Novakovich, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Hal Robson-Kanu, Orlando Sa, Dominic Samuel

Injured:
Jake Cooper, Simon Cox, Jack Stacey

International duty: Michael Hector, Garath McCleary

A number of young players get the chance to stake their claim, including Dominic Samuel, Andrija Novakovich, Aaron Tshibola, Nana Owusu, Liam Kelly and more. In fact 13 of the 25 players have come through our Academy.

Our new signings may not play in Wednesday's friendly against the Thailand Premier League all-stars as they are yet to fully train with their new teammates.

Supporters may like to know that our squad numbers have not yet been selected, and they should not read anything into the numbers that players are wearing on this trip, which are all between 1 and 25.

Anton Ferdinand played 45 minutes as a Reading XI beat Maidenhead 1-0 at Hogwood on Saturday thanks to a Novakovich goal, and earlier this summer he spent time training with Chicago Fire in a bid to come back as strong as possible.
