23 July 2015

Manager hoping to further strengthen his squad

Royals boss Steve Clarke gave a transfer update to BBC Radio Berkshire after the pre-season win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night, saying his is hopeful that a more deals can be done before the end of August deadline, allowing him to strengthen a squad he has spent shaping this summer.

“Before the window closes, which is still quite a long way away believe it or not, I think we still need three players to make us more competitive in the league next year," he explained.

“Everyone knows what we’re trying to do and we're working hard behind the scenes to make it happen, but it's not easy - everyone else is trying to strengthen at the same time.

“I've got three positions in mind, one defensive, one in midfield and another forward would help us.”

The Royals are back in action at Wycombe Wanderers' Adams Park at 7.45pm on Friday night against Premier League opposition in Swansea - you can get your tickets now via the Chairboys' ticket office.

Reading fans will be accommodated in the Bucks New Uni Stand – the terrace behind one goal - and the Beechdean and Family Stands, which are seated areas which run parallel to the length of the pitch.
