Royals enjoy spell on beautiful island

The Royals squad have been enjoying the picturesque setting of Thailand's beautiful island, Koh Samui, over the last couple of days. The trip has given the chance for the players to relax and recover from being put through their paces in the Bangkok heat, but they have been hard at work as part of the pre-season preparation at the same time...

Speaking to the BBC after the match on Wednesday night, manager Steve Clarke said, "Now we, courtesy of the owners, travel to one of the islands for some relaxation...but not too much!

"We've put a lot of hard work in - in demanding conditions - so the break will do us good. The players think they're going for a holiday, but we'll still be working them! They'll be in the gym and in the pool.

"We then fly back to Bangkok, train there on Sunday morning, and arrive back in England early on Monday. They can have Monday to recover, then double sessions all week from Tuesday!"
