Hec and G-Mac meet Royals fan in Atlanta

Jamaican duo seek out Reading fan

Reading fans are spread across the world – and for those Royals in exile, it isn’t every day that our players are in their back yard.

So when South Carolina-based Royals supporter ‘Mo Moyer’ arrived in Atlanta, he tweeted to say that he was seeking out Reggae Boyz pair Garath McCleary and Michael Hector ahead of the Gold Cup semi-final between Jamaica and hosts USA.

McCleary wasted little time and quickly replied to the call-out – then our two Reading boys set a rendezvous with the loyal Royal.

@QARCapo@ReadingFC@Big_Hec35 lol hello mate. How far are you from the dome?

And soon enough, Mo had the chance to meet the Jamaican duo and took the rarest of chances to meet the Reading players while they were stateside.

Just met @gmccleary12 and @Big_Hec35 in ATL!!!! Thank you fellas!!!!

While most American supporters were left heartbroken by Jamaica’s upset the next evening, there was at least one native that has a reason to cheer on the Reggae Boyz in the final…

@gmccleary12@Big_Hec35@ReadingFC congrats boys! I'll be pulling for you in Philly #URZZZ

McCleary, Hector and the rest of the Reggae Boyz will line up against Mexico in the Gold Cup final, which takes place in Philadelphia and kicks off at 12.30am in the early hours of Monday morning UK time.

Reading fans in the UK can watch the game on BT Sport 2 – and everyone at the club wishes to reiterate their very best wishes for Garath, Hector and the rest of the Jamaica team as they aim to write their names in Gold Cup history.
