Midfielder's ambitions for a Royal return to the big time!Midfielder Stephen Quinn formed one half of a double swoop for Hull City stars this summer, arriving with Steve Clarke's new-look squad alongside Paul McShane just before the squad's pre-season tour to Thailand.
A lot of hard work was put in out in the humidity of Bangkok and Koh Samui and Quinn is really looking forward to the pre-season campaign back on home turf - which kicks off at Bristol Rovers tomorrow night - and the season that lies ahead.
“I’m really excited. This club is all geared up and ready for the Premier League. It’s not so long since it’s been out of the top flight and that’s what this squad and the manager want to achieve again.
“The manager came over to Ireland to come and meet up with me and Paul and speak to us about a move to Reading - and that was a big pull. Coming over and speaking face to face, and telling us what his ambitions are....straight away I just thought, I have to come here!
“I was with the Irish camp at the time and going back to the hotel and speaking to Shane Long, he could only speak highly about the club. Obviously Alex Pearce was there as well, he was saying so many good things, and I couldn’t really turn the offer down," Quinn explained.
“The whole proposition of coming here and playing football the way the manager wants to play, it was really exciting. Me and Paul are both hungry guys and we both achieved promotion with Hull a couple of years back. So we want to give it a good crack here this season.
"Paul is a great player to bring into the club and, along with the other additions the manager’s made, the squad is settling in nicely. So we’re hoping to get that confidence with a good start and kick-on from there.”
