Striker pleased for chance to go pro with ReadingNew Reading arrival Rowan Liburd expressed his pleasure at having the opportunity to link up with the club, following his arrival on Wednesday.
The forward joins up with the development group after penning a two-year deal and is looking forward to getting going with the Royals.
“I feel great – it’s really exciting I’m hoping to hit the ground running and do what I can for the club,” said the 22-year-old.
“I’m really happy and thankful for the opportunity I have been given, so I just hope I can repay the club.
“There’s a lot of hard work ahead I just want to get my head down and focus on helping the team as much as I can.”
The forward, who had been turning heads at Billericay with some outstanding form after returning from a four-year scholarship at Thomas University in the USA, penned a two-year contract with the Royals.
His route to the Madejski Stadium is far from conventional – but he is keen to make sure that he takes his chance with the Royals and build a career for himself in the professional game.
“I decided to go to University in America for four years, at Thomas University in Georgia,” explained Rowan. “After coming back I wanted to get feet settled and ended up at Billericay, after a good year there I’ve ended up coming to Reading.
“I’m pacey and like to score goals and play off the shoulder, but I also like to join in with build-up play so I’ a bit of an all-rounder.
“There is still stuff I need to learn and I’m not naïve so I know I’ll have to work hard and I’m really excited about cracking on now. I’m happy to be in the environment where I can develop as a player and push on.”
