Royals left so proud of Fran Kirby

2 July 2015

Heartbreak for England women

Fran Kirby and her England teammates suffered the most cruel exit from the Women's World Cup last night, but the whole Club would like to say how proud we are of her efforts.

She became England's youngest World Cup goalscorer in a crucial group stage win, and she did herself proud on the biggest stage possible.

Unfortunately with the semi-final tightly posed at 1-1 with Japan, Fran did not get onto the pitch last night, and saw the most unfortunate own goal send Japan into the final.

Fran will now prepare for Saturday's third/fourth placed play-off with Germany, and we would like to wish her and her teammates well.
